Madeline (Maddie) & Stephen planned an absolutely beautiful, classic Pittsburgh November wedding. Every location was stunning and every detail came together perfectly. Both Maddie and Stephen got ready with their friends and family in separate suites at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Downtown Pittsburgh. They chose the elegant architecture (and completely predictable weather) of the Omni’s mezzanine level for their first look, and the grand lobby for a full wedding party photo.
Maddie & Stephen’s ceremony was at the iconic Heinz Chapel in Oakland, on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. I love seeing guests’ reactions when they walk in and get their first look at the striking architecture! I’ve been there many times over the years, and I love that reminder of what a special place it is.
After the ceremony, Maddie & Stephen rented the Broderie Room at Phipps Conservatory for a photo session. For many couples’ wedding days, this might make for a hectic timeline – but Maddie & Stephen had allotted plenty of time in between the ceremony and reception. Plus, they LOVE Phipps and were thrilled to have the opportunity to have wedding photos in their favorite place, while decorated for the holidays!
Their reception was held in the art deco Urban Room back at the Omni William Penn. While the two-story Grand Ballroom at the Omni gets the most attention, I’m partial to the Urban Room, with its black Carrara glass walls, huge ceiling mural and striking chandelier. (Fun fact: the room gets its name from its designer, Joseph Urban – not its city location.)
Enjoy some of my favorites from this lovely wedding day!
